New Labor Landscape in Mexico Emphasizes Positive Employee Experience

HR Policy Global announced a new piece of thought leadership, Mexico’s Labor Landscape: Past, Present, and Future. This work provides practical tools for HR leaders to manage new labor challenges by enhancing positive employee relations in Mexico.

  • HR Policy Global’s take: The paper provides advice to companies operating in Mexico from their peers on using proactive strategies to adapt to the changing labor environment and comply with the new regulations.

  • The big picture: More than 100,000 collective bargaining agreements were dissolved at companies operating in Mexico in 2023, rendering traditional Mexican trade union strategies obsolete and resulting in more than 80% of companies becoming “union free.” HR Policy Global surveyed companies on their response to this event, the results of which can be found in this paper.

  • Actions to take now: Companies should consider proactive strategies for adapting to the changing labor environment and complying with the new regulations. This includes viewing old collective bargaining agreements with a new lens or fostering a sustainable union-free workplace.

Additionally, as part of our LATAM Summit, an in-person interactive Workshop on Mexico Labor and Employment will be offered at no cost to Global members on October 24th in Ft. Lauderdale. We will provide practical tools, strategies, and insights necessary to thrive in Mexico's evolving labor landscape.
